Mastering Your Mean Girl

I totally judged this book by its cover. I looked at it and thought "That looks like a really girly woo-woo book!" and the only reason that I proceeded to read it was because of a book club. Thank you book club!!! This book is amazing!!!

Flipping back through the pages of this book, I can tell that I had all intentions of making this a "fun read". What that means to me is that I don't allow myself to pick up a pen, pencil or highlighter to mark it up like a text book. I read through it taking in the information simply to enjoy it rather than to really do work. I didn't even get through the introduction before getting the strong urge to pick up my pencil! I've underlined and written so many things in the margins that it's hard to know where to start with my review on this one.

I really dig books (and any sort of thing) that talk about the power of the mind and how it plays a role in who we become and the life we live. The idea that the only thing holding us back from living our truest, fullest, most authentic lives is fear. It can be a hard concept to grasp, and even when you think you've got a handle on it, you see your fear around the corner playing hide-and-go-seek and your fear is winning the game.

This book is full of inspiration, affirmation & action.

Inspiration - The author shares her own personal stories about her own rock bottom. How she overcame depression, anxiety, an eating disorder, hormonal imbalances, etc. No matter what your demon, you are bound to connect with one of her stories!

Affirmation - Affirmation that I'm not nuts. Sometimes I feel like I need this one more than the inspiration. My husband is a very logical and realistic human so anytime I start talking about all this woo-woo, I'm greeted with a whole lot of skepticism and a "Whatever makes you happy, dear!" The truth is that I believe in this woo-woo! Things like:

Light is love. Dark is fear. Don't ever forget that your light is more powerful than your darkness.
When you consciously express what you are truly grateful for you are saying a big fat thank you! to the Universe and becoming a magnet for more of that goodness to come into your life. It's a win-win!
The biggest gift you can give to the world is your authentic self.

Action - The book is filled with Exercises and Inspo-actions to help you take action while your making your way through it. Even better is that she leaves space for you to actually do them RIGHT AWAY! For this reason, I'm glad that I got the print version of this book instead of audible. No way in hell would I have done them then! I filled out most of them as I went along and only a few did I think "I'll go back and do that" - which you know didn't actually happen! What these little inspo-actions are doing are helping you train your brain! So if you just hit "buy now" on Amazon, I urge you to fill them out as you go along once you start reading!

The power lies in its ability to spring us back to our truth - love. Love is our natural state, our birthright, and when we learn to live in alignment with it, life starts to flow a lot more effortlessly. In fact, when you choose love you'll find you're living a life greater than your wildest dreams.

I'm still training myself to live this and believe it whole-heartedly. To choose LOVE over FEAR in every situation. To live my BEST LIFE everyday. I pray the Lord show me the way and guide me toward love and I pray the same for you!
